We put together this list of restaurant recommendations for our wedding website, and we wanted to keep this available as a reference for friends, family, acquaintances, and for ourselves, too:).
Dan and Marcela enjoy good food. One of their favorite activities is trying out new restaurants, as well as making rounds to their all time favorites.
There are a lot of great food options in the Bay Area, and we would like to share with you some of our favorite places to eat around here.
Bay Leaf
Indonesian cuisine. This place reminds Marcela of home-cooked food. Some of her favorite items are: Siomay bandung, Mie tek tek, Ayam goreng mentega
Osha Thai
One of our favorite Thai restaurants. We highly recommend the Pumpkin Curry and the Volcanic Beef. There are multiple locations around San Francisco. We usually go to the one on Embarcadero.
Gochi
Our favorite Japanese Izakaya (Tapas) place. We recommend the Saba Oyako Meshi (salmon rice hot pot), as well as any of their fusion pizzas (crab, salmon & salmon roe, kimchee, unagi, etc).
Santa Ramen
One of our favorite ramen places in the Bay. We recommend the pork broth ramen, with a side order of chicken karaage.
Sushi on the Run
This is our favorite sushi spot in the South Bay. Definitely get the nigiri--huge pieces and fresh! We also recommend the seafood salad. They only have 8 seats total in the restaurant, so you most likely will have to wait outside if you come at a busy time.
Mums Home of Shabu Shabu
All you can eat Japanese shabu-shabu. Excellent quality!
Crustacean
Vietnamese. Their specialty is the garlic noodle and roasted garlic crab. Mmm...
Three Seasons
Contemporary Vietnamese. We went on our first date here, where Marcela was introduced to garlic noodles for the first time. Other delicious dishes include shaking beef and whole crispy red snapper.
Taylor's Automatic Refresher
Hands down the BEST BURGER! We highly recommend the Texas Burger, Ahi Tuna Burger, Sweet Potato Fries, and their Garlic Fries. They use organic ingredients, hormone-free meat, and recyclable greenware. Go green!
Update: This place is now called Gotts Roadside Tray Gourmet.
Cheeseboard Pizza
Excellent local organic pizzeria. We always try to go whenever we're around the area. They only serve one type of pizza per day, so make sure to check their website for the Pizza of the Day.
Gregoire
French food to go. Fresh, local, organic ingredients. Their menu changes monthly. But the crispy potato puffs are always on the menu and a must try!
Sol Food
Puerto Rican Cuisine. Best find in Marin. We usually get the chicken or steak combo plate with pinto beans and sweet plantains. The veggie deluxe sandwich is very good, too. Portions are pretty substantial; we usually share one entree for the both of us. There's usually always a line when we've gone, but it's worth the wait.
Jang Su Jang
One of our favorite Korean restaurants. Good ventilation compared to other places, too. Some of our favorite dishes include the LA Galbi, Seafood Pancake, and Boo-dae Jigae (mixed Korean stew). We have yet to try the grill your own BBQ, but plan to eventually.
Koi Garden
A good dim sum restaurant in the Tri-Valley area. There are also other Asian restaurants in the same complex if you want other options.
Michael Mina
Dan & Marcela had an AMAZING meal at Michael Mina. They are famous for the lobster pot pie and the root beer float. It is a little pricey...but you can actually order a similar menu from the bar for a fraction of the cost :)
They also have a sister restaurant in San Jose called Arcadia Modern Steakhouse by Michael Mina that we also recommend (and is easier on your wallet).
Bi Rite Creamery
Marcela's favorite ice cream place in the whole world! Her favorite flavor is the Salted Caramel ice cream!
Mitchell's Ice Cream
Dan's favorite ice cream parlor. Grasshopper Pie and Mocha Fudge are two favorites. They have other unique flavors, too, including Avocado and Ube, if you feel so bold.
Honeyberry
Formerly known as Cafe Aroma. We got frozen yogurt here A LOT while we were dating. Now it is home of our favorite shaved ice dessert. Marcela prefers the Green Tea flavor, and Dan likes the Fruit + Red Bean flavor. They're both delicious and very refreshing to cool you down on a hot day.
The self-serve original tart frozen yogurt is decent as well.
I'm glad you two are foodies :) Good taste to! Gary Danko didn't make the cut eh? hehe
ReplyDeleteHa :) Thanks Bruce! Gary should actually be on the list, but at the time we wanted to give our wedding guests a variety of options (not just all fine dining). We should probably make another list that would include Gary :p
